Happy Monday

For your Monday viewing enjoyment, a variety of kilts.  :)  Variety is almost as good as kilts!

Also, I know everyone has seen this already, but it makes me happy so you get a bonus kilt today!

The hair, the leather, the sporran, the flaming pipes (also in the video, the AC/DC)...  Happy Monday.

Food Friday: Sticky Bun Ring

No, that's not quite what it sounds like.  It's a "breakfast" treat.  I say "breakfast" because I actually made it for dinner, along with fried eggs.  We are strange people in this house.  We like breakfast foods, just much of the time we don't actually eat them for breakfast--they taste so much better at lunch time, and are especially tasty in the evening.

So, when I decided to make this for dinner a few nights ago, no one was terribly surprised, and we all enjoyed it.  It's easy and only takes a few minutes to throw together, and about a half hour to bake.

Please note that I used real maple syrup because that's what I had.  Feel free to use any pancake syrup you happen to have.

Sticky Bun Ring

What you need:

2 tubes of refrigerated Pillsbury Grands-type buttermilk biscuit dough (I only used 1 1/2 tubes, and just baked the 4 left over biscuits.)
3 Tablespoons melted butter (As always, I used unsalted butter, but feel free to use what you have)
1/2 cup pancake syrup
1/3 cup packed brown sugar (I used dark brown sugar, light works too)
1/2-1 teaspoon cinnamon, to taste
1/4 cup chopped pecans, optional
1/4 cup chopped almonds, optional (I left out the nuts because I did not have any.  If you put nuts in, let me know how it comes out!)

What you do:

Soon we will be yummy.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and spray a bundt pan with non-stick spray.

Melt the butter in a small bowl and add the syrup, then set aside. In another bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts (if using).

Pour about half of the syrup mixture in the bottom of the pan, then sprinkle half of the brown sugar mixture on top of it.

I am a sticky, sweet mess!

Lay the biscuits on the bottom of the pan, overlapping the edges to form a ring--see photo.

Kind of standing on edge, but laying on each other.

Top with the remaining syrup and brown sugar mixtures.

Now, I'm an even sweeter, stickier mess!

Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for a minute or so in the pan, then invert onto a serving plate and enjoy!

I added a little extra butter.  Also, you will notice that the hungry teenager couldn't wait for me to take the picture, hence the missing section in the back.

Happy Monday

It's only a bit after midnight and my day is already not great.  My head is not in a good place right now, and so I hope Ewan McGregor helps us all have a better Monday.

As always, if you know who took this photo, please let me know so I can credit them.

Hello.  I will be sexy at you until you have a good Monday.

Happy Monday

Since I have to go get my eyeballs numbed and probed later today and I'm not sure how long I will be gone, I am posting your Monday kilt porn picture early this week.  :)  By early, I mean that it is 12:22 AM for me right now, so depending on your point of view, it's either late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

Some of you have seen these guys before, some of you have not.  Either way, Happy Monday!

Happy Monday

How did life get so darn busy?  Anyway, I'm sorry the kilt didn't arrive Monday morning like it was supposed to, but I hope it will be enjoyed anyway.

Happy (26 remaining minutes of) Monday!

My son became obsessed with the game Portal several months ago and cake features very prominently in the game.  I asked him if the recipe for the cake was given in the game and he responded that it was, so I set out on a quest to find the recipe so that I could make the "famous" cake and find out why GLaDOS was so obsessed with it.
